7 fitness apps that motivate you to achieve your goals

Sometimes it’s hard to motivate yourself to workout at home. However, mobile apps that act as a virtual trainer come to the rescue.

MapMyFitness

The app has diverse functions and collects all the basic parameters. When launching the program, you need to select the physical activity that you will do during your workout. The list includes cycling, yoga, fitness, pilates, or running. Among the data recorded by the app are distance, workout duration, steps traveled, and route completed. MapMyFitness uses GPS, so it allows you to record and control the route you have taken. The basic version is free and available for Android and iOS. The app extension costs about 6 euros per month and allows you to monitor more data, including the user’s heart rate.

MyFitnessPal

The main function of the app is calorie counting. The program allows you to estimate the ratio of calorie intake in your daily intake to the number of energy burned during your workout. The user can set an athletic goal, weight and the physical shape they want to achieve, while the app will help them maintain a proper diet. MyFitnessPal comes with a rich food and beverage database that allows the user to keep a calorie log with ease. The app also has the ability to scan a product’s barcode, so it quickly determines its nutritional value and calorie count. In addition, MyFitnessPal publishes original recipes for diet foods and specially created articles on fitness topics.

Fit Radio

This application provides music to accompany exercise. Fit Radio matches selected songs to video workouts installed on the system with specially created instructional material. The list of workouts includes meditation, rehabilitation exercises, stretching, weight lifting, and cardio. You can use the app’s services for free for 3 months during the trial period, then you need to purchase a paid subscription.

Strava

This is an app created mainly for runners and cyclists. Users who are logged into the system share their results and the routes they have taken, thanks to which other athletes can use the same routes and improve their results. The idea of Strava is mutual motivation of users, whose data is publicly available. Speed and distance parameters are recorded using GPS.

The Johnson & Johnson Official 7 Minute Workout

The app incorporates 7-minute circuit workouts for each day. All you need is a chair and internet access to complete the workouts. The intensity level of the workout can be adjusted to the user’s ability and then systematically increased. Workouts include exercises such as squats, running in place, and triceps exercises. The application also allows you to create your own workouts and adjust the movements to your individual preferences.

PEAR – Personal Fitness Coach

The application includes specially prepared training plans, among which you can find yoga, running, HIIT, or strength training. The personal trainer helps to gradually increase the strength load and improves the user’s fitness, motivating them to work out more intensively.
