Waterproof headphones – swim to the beat of your favorite sounds!

Music has become an inseparable part of training. To meet the needs of physically active people, manufacturers regularly release waterproof equipment that allows you to listen to music even while swimming!

What equipment to choose?

The main issue when choosing headphones is how to use them. Models available on the market are designed for both recreational users and professionals. In the offer of various manufacturers you can find swimming headphones with mp3, bluetooth function, preloaded radio, memory disk or waterproof equipment with a cable and a special case for the phone. When choosing headphones, you should also decide on the type of equipment, that is, the choice between in-ear or external headphones.

Before finally buying the headphones, it is a good idea to try them on to make sure that they fit properly, do not pinch, do not fall out of the ear, and the earbuds are tight. The preloaded features in the headphones’ interface, design, and wearing comfort can also prove helpful during swimming workouts, so it’s a good idea to determine the purpose for which you’ll be using the equipment at the beginning of your purchase consideration so that you can customize the headphones.

What parameters to look out for?

When choosing waterproof headphones, you should pay attention to a few key points that will allow you to use them comfortably. Most of the available models have similar parameters, and the most different are the preloaded additional features. Depending on how and where you use the equipment, different parameters and options will be mandatory in the equipment. Buying waterproof headphones, it is worth paying attention to such parameters as convenient button control, streamlined shape, noise reduction, type of attachment, ability to answer calls, impedance level or mounted microphone. Important aspects are also:

Depth

Waterproof headphones differ primarily in the parameter of the depth in which they work properly. The standard dimension is a depth of about 2 meters, while not all models guarantee even such capabilities. The most modern headphones designed for diving have a range of up to 5 meters.

Water type

All waterproof headphones are suitable for use in freshwater, i.e. in a swimming pool, lakes or rivers. Saltwater is at the discretion of the manufacturer, so when choosing a headphone model, check carefully whether the equipment is recommended for swimming in the sea or ocean.

Battery

Battery life is also an important element of good waterproof headphones. Depending on the manufacturer, the battery life of the headphones without charging varies, but the standard battery life is around 8 hours. When using the bluetooth feature, it’s also a good idea to check how long the battery lasts on your paired phone. Without a functioning music carrier, water headphones become useless.

Bluetooth, radio, mp3 and other features

The headphones can play music using a bluetooth connection and a device with access to your music catalog, such as your phone. The same connectivity can also be achieved with a regular AUX type cable, although with waterproof headphones this requires an equally waterproof phone. When opting for bluetooth functions, check the communication range, which should be around 10 meters as standard. When using a cable, a typical cable length measures a maximum of 1.5 meters, but when combined with waterproof headphones, the shorter the cable, the better. A short cable will not get in the way during dynamic movements in the water.

The last possible option is headphones with an integrated music player. Hardware with mp3 is an ideal solution for people who do not have a waterproof phone. When choosing a model of such headphones, you should pay attention to the capacity of the built-in memory. This is usually from 2 to about 4 GB, which should be enough for most of the users. For more demanding listeners there will also be models with a disk that can hold up to 16 GB of data.
