The most interesting camera shots during sports competitions

Some sports emotions are impossible to forget, but you can go a step further and relive them with imaginative photos. Here are some of the most interesting shots from sports events!

Kobe Bryant (1998)

Kobe Bryant is one of the best basketball players in the history of the NBA, and the following photo proves that he was able to be in the right place at the right time not only in a sports sense. The spectacular shot comes from the early days of the player’s career, which is about to conquer the basketball world. The following seasons are a string of successes for him. Looking at how incredible a stroke Bryant possessed at the age of just 20, it should come as no surprise that he has forever gone down in sports history as one of the most outstanding in his profession.

Marco Materazzi & Rui Costa (2005)

In 2005, AC Milan and Inter Milan faced each other in the Champions League quarterfinals. It is worth noting that both clubs were at the top of the European hierarchy at the time. However, the promising Milan Derby was violently interrupted by a flare-up that Inter supporters decided to stage. One of the projectiles hit directly at Milan’s goalkeeper – the popular Dida. The scandalous events may be somewhat sweetened by the fact that it was under these unfavorable circumstances that the now legendary photograph was taken, in which Marco Materazzi watches the spectacle alongside… club rival Rui Costa. Perfectly captured by the photographer, the moment is perfect proof that respect sits above club affiliations.

Dominik Bury (2022)

Among the most interesting shots from this year’s Winter Olympics in Beijing was a Polish accent. Dominik Bury – as he is referred to – is one of the best cross-country skiers in the country on the Vistula River and a multiple Polish champion. At the Olympics, our athlete competed in the following events: 30 km combined run, 15 km classic style and finally 50 km freestyle. Bury ranked 26th, 27th and 30th, respectively, but he will be remembered more than for his results thanks to a fantastic photo taken of him during one of the runs. The temperature during the competition was so low that the Pole’s lush beard literally… froze!

Linoy Ashram (2021)

Linoy Ashram at the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo (the competition was held in 2021 – editor’s note) took gold in the women’s multi-jump in artistic gymnastics. What’s more, the Israeli representative went down in the history of the sporting event thanks to a great photo that one of the photographers managed to take. One can risk the thesis that the following shot is the quintessence of Linoy’s fantastic performance at the arch-important event – lightness combined with finesse and immense skill are perfectly captured here. Given the gymnast’s performance, it is a great pity that Ashram decided to end her sports career in April this year.
