Neurotransmitters are the engine

The human brain is still largely a mystery. Of course, science is still developing, but many mysteries have yet to be uncovered. Scientists believe that we use only a small fraction of the capabilities that our own brain gives us. There are also many questions about how some people’s brain regeneration capacity (e.g., after a stroke or strokes) is much greater than that of other patients with the same condition. It sometimes happens that the damaged brain is able to produce special bypasses of the defective areas, making it possible to return to at least partial function.

Neurons are responsible for the flow of information in the brain. There are so many of them that counting them becomes quite a challenge. One can come across information that says that there are more than 86 billion neurons in the human brain. Their task is to transport information using an energy signal. Communication between neurons could not exist if there were no chemical messengers. These are neurotransmitters – substances responsible for properly regulating our mood.

However, this is not their only task. Neurotransmitters are also responsible for controlling cravings and for skills such as efficient memory and concentration on current tasks. If you are experiencing sleep disturbances, have trouble concentrating, and your mood resembles a roller coaster ride, it could mean that your neurotransmitters have become completely dysregulated.

It would be impossible to list all the neurotransmitters found in our brain. In fact, they perform a variety of functions. Some of them are very important, others are much less important. It is worth focusing on a few of them, on those that have been best researched so far:

dopamine – is a very important neurotransmitter. Its tasks include coordinating the movements of our body and ensuring that the muscles are properly tensed. It also controls the secretion of hormones. Do you want to increase your productivity? Take care of high levels of dopamine in your body. Thanks to it your concentration will improve. As a result, you will perform assigned tasks more efficiently and accurately.

Serotonin – it is a neurotransmitter, which is largely responsible for whether we are happy or feel sad. Serotonin is considered a very important mood regulator. When its level in the human body significantly decreases, there is an increased risk of depressive states. Despite appearances, serotonin is not stored in the human brain, but in the intestines. If you have difficult to control hunger attacks, your libido is low, as is your self-esteem and you constantly struggle with insomnia, these are symptoms that may indicate that there is not enough serotonin in your body.
